FOUR PRIESTS TO BE ORDAINED FOR DIOCESE ON JUNE 4
PENSACOLA, FL, May 19, 2016 –
Occasion celebrates the most priests to be ordained in Catholic Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee in more than 30 years
This year, Bishop Gregory L. Parkes will ordain four men to the Catholic priesthood at a ceremony during which the most new priests will be ordained at one time for the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee in more than 30 years. The ordination ceremony includes various rituals, rich in meaning and history, such as prostration, laying on of hands, anointing of hands, and the giving of the chalice and paten. The ordination will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pensacola on June 4 at 10 a.m.
Those to be ordained are Deacon Michael Hartley, 27, of Jacksonville, Deacon Thomas Kennell, 30, of Milton, Deacon Dustin Feddon, 40, of Tallahassee, and Deacon Paul Moody, 58, of Gulf Breeze. Upon ordination, Hartley will serve as a priest at St. Rita Parish (Santa Rosa Beach) and Christ the King Mission (Freeport), Kennell at St. Ann Parish (Gulf Breeze), Feddon at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (Pensacola), and Moody at St. Paul Parish (Pensacola).
“The ordination of four new priests to serve in the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee is an occasion of great joy and hope,” said Bishop Parkes. "These men have answered God’s call and have chosen to give their lives in service and ministry to others.”
“For me, being a priest is really about service and committing my life to serving those most in need in moments of great poverty in their lives and being with people in grave moments of crisis,” said Deacon Feddon, one of the priests-to-be.
